Treatment of Complex Cases in Collaboration with a Gnathologist

In complex cases, orthodontics works in combination with gnathology—the field that studies the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and masticatory muscles. This approach allows not only to align teeth, but also to restore proper bite function, reduce muscle tension, prevent joint overload and ensure comfortable, efficient chewing.

When a Gnathology Consultation Is Needed

  • Chronic headaches or jaw pain
  • Overload of the chewing muscles or temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
  • Complex bite issues that cannot be corrected with standard braces alone
  • Breathing or swallowing dysfunctions

Treatment Process

Treatment begins with advanced diagnostics. If needed, jaw stabilization is performed using special splints or aligners. Only after achieving functional balance does the active orthodontic correction begin.
